Building a monitoring system for belt core condition diagnostics.
The monitoring system comprises a Belt Scanner provided by Belt Guard company, two permanent magnet heads, a measurement head, a tachometer and a mobile computer.
The measurement system’s components
The measurement head comprises seven modules, each further comprising 16 measurement coils situated 25 mm apart (the picture below). The coils have a positive and a negative pole, thus allowing for bipolar measurements. Measurement signals from induction coils are amplified, then stored in the shift register and eventually sent to the recorder. Coil sensitivity and measurement frequency are set by the operator.
The recorder collects data from the measurement head and a connected computer allows the data to be saved and exported to a CSV (Comma Separated Values) file. Data from the CSV file are then fed into a dedicated computer program written in LabView environment.
